We are incredibly excited to announce that we have been approved for a CBT Community Development Grant of $16, 740 for the Salmo ski hill trails project. That’s right almost $17,000! Combine that with the $13,150 we have received from Mountain Equipment Co-op and $1500 from the Salmo Valley Fund and we are well on our way to this years’ goal.Климат

Our goal for 2015 is completion of the 3km Sunset Loop on the lower portion of the ski hill that we started last year and completion of the summit trail to the top of the t-bar. The summit trail will break off from the loop about 1.5km in and extend an additional 1.5km to the top for 3km total length.

The funds will be used to hire a contractor to complete the trail construction with a small machine, similar to last year. We also plan to have the contractor complete the initial trail clearing. Trail clearing consumed almost all of our volunteer time last year. This year we hope to instead use our volunteer time to build the first intermediate trail, a hand built single track trail that will be a little bit more challenging and adventuresome for more advanced hikers and bikers.

Want to get involved in the intermediate trail layout and construction? Stay on after the AGM or stop on by from 7:30-8:30pm as we put together this vision and the team that will make it happen.

We can’t wait to see you there! As always, questions can be sent to salmovalleytrails@gmail.com or visit our website www.salmovalleytrailsociety.org
